More and more galleries

Posted June 28th @ 2:50 pm by Nout van Deijck

or the past few weeks, I’ve been a lot less busy, so I surfed a lot.
I notice that there are coming more and more online galleries, mostly CSS galleries.

Because of the large number of galleries and to make things more clarified for you and for me, I have made a list with the, in my opinion, complete/best/original CSS galleries.

Cloudy words

Wordle word cloud

As the site itself says,

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

You can create really great word-clouds with this application!
On the picture above, you see the cloud that I made with the text on the ‘about me’ page of this blog.
You can choose different color palettes.

=> Here you can go to Wordle.

And here, you can see my profile with the clouds I made.

Behance Network

Posted June 22nd @ 12:42 pm by Nout van Deijck

Hello everybody,
it’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted something, but now I’m back with a nice article!

Everyone occasionally visits or has heard from YouTube, Hyves, MySpace or other ’social networking’ or ‘community’ -websites.
Obviously, there are social networking-sites for and by (web)designers too.

Behance Network is such a social network, “A free platform for the world’s leading creative professionals”, so they write on their website.

Here, you can visit their site and here you can read more detailed what it minutely is.

Grasshopper Robot

Posted May 23rd @ 4:49 pm by Nout van Deijck

Looking like a gear-head grasshopper, a new robot can jump distances more than 27 times its body length.
The contraption, about the size of a locust and weighing only about a quarter of an ounce (7 grams), could aid in search and rescue operations and explore rough terrain.

incredible freefonts

Posted May 13th @ 10:09 pm by Nout van Deijck

The importance of typography in design can’t be overestimated. The accuracy, precision and balance of geometric forms can give letters the elegance and sharpness they deserve. Besides, elegant fonts can help to convey the message in a more convenient way. In fact, while there are many excellent professional fonts, there are literally thousands of free low-quality fonts which you would never use for professional designs.

Quality costs. The price of “bulletproof” fonts usually reflects their quality and starts at 50$ per typeface. However, before purchasing a font you will probably use only once in your designs you might want to take a glance at outstanding free alternatives first.

Enjoy!

kotatsu - awesome html table generator

Posted May 7th @ 3:38 pm by Nout van Deijck

A very awesome table generator that lets you add classes to whole columns or rows and generates the HTML!

It is called kotatsu.

Originally kotatsu (炬燵), used almost exclusively in Japan, is a low, wooden table frame covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, upon which a table top sits. Underneath is a heat source, often built into the table itself. (Wikipedia)

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama is closer to the Democratic nomination with a great victory in North Carolina. Hillary Clinton has won in the state Indiana with 51 against 49 per cent.

In North Carolina, the biggest of the two states, Obama won with 56 per cent of the votes, against 42 per cent for Clinton. With that, he did better then expected. The results are a recovery after a number of painful defeats and a difficult time in Obama’s campaign. He won in North Carolina almost as many votes as he lost in Pennsylvania two weeks ago.
